With family volunteering in mind, the City of O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Department announced its participation in a new program, “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.”

“We’re excited that the City of O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Department has been approved to participate,” said Kathy Halstead, Manager of Volunteer Services. “We have always welcomed families and friends volunteering together. The City offers a number of interesting opportunities to people of all ages, and we’re pleased that the Disney program puts the focus on volunteering, family and fun. For any of our volunteers who are planning a trip to Florida or California in 2010, the free Disney tickets can certainly help make a family vacation more affordable.”

The “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program invites people who are at least 18 to register for volunteering in participating communities, including O’Fallon, by signing up at www.disneyparks.com. Additional information is available on the website. Registration officially opens on Friday, January 1, 2010. When the volunteer service is completed and then verified by the HandsOn Network and the City of O’Fallon, participants will receive a voucher that can be redeemed for a free ticket good for a one-day admission to a Walt Disney World or a Disneyand theme park ticket.

“O’Fallon’s 2010 volunteering opportunities start in January with our Volunteer Donor Month Blood Drive and the King Day of Service, and continue throughout the year,” said Halstead. “We have a list of over 60 programs for families, individuals and organizations, and many programs that can use helping hands of all ages and abilities.”
